New Mexico Hospitality Association announces Jill Lane and Dr. Priscilla Bloomquist as 2018 inductees into New Mexico Tourism Hall of Fame

New Mexico Hospitality Association has announced Jill Lane and Dr. Priscilla Bloomquist as the 2018 inductee class for the New Mexico Tourism Hall of Fame.
Lane, Executive Director for the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum Foundation, and Dr. Bloomquist, Professor for the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management (HRTM) program at New Mexico State University, will be inducted into the New Mexico Tourism Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 8, 5:30 p.m., at the AdWallet Hall of Fame Dinner presented by New Mexico Hospitality Association. The Hall of Fame Dinner will be hosted at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino in Mescalero, NM.
A selection committee of hospitality and tourism representatives from across the state evaluates the finalists and selects inductees based on at least a 10-year career of service to growing the tourism industry of New Mexico.
“We’re incredibly happy to announce the induction of Jill Lane and Dr. Priscilla Bloomquist into the New Mexico Tourism Hall of Fame,” said NMHA Board Chair Antoinette Vigil. “Both of these women have made tremendous contributions to the New Mexico hospitality and tourism arena and are helping build a stronger economy and brighter future.”
Jill Lane began her career in New Mexico hospitality and tourism in 1995 when she transferred to Albuquerque as the New Mexico/West Texas Marketing Director for Delta Airlines. Following retirement from Delta Airlines in 2004, Lane became a full-time freelance travel writer and tourism specialist, focusing on New Mexico travel. Lane joined the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum Foundation as Executive Director in 2014 where she has served since. Lane oversees some of the Balloon Museum’s most popular events, such as the Viewing Events at the Balloon Museum, Red, White & Balloons 4th of July Celebration, and the New meXpo!, which launched last year. Lane was named Tourism Professional of the Year in 2010 by the former Tourism Association of New Mexico (currently the New Mexico Hospitality Association).
Dr. Priscilla Bloomquist is a Professor in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) at New Mexico State University where she has been since 1988. Dr. Bloomquist relocated to Las Cruces in 1988 to assist in starting what is now the School of HRTM at NMSU, which offers the only Bachelor of Science degree in the industry of hospitality and tourism. Since arriving at NMSU, Dr. Bloomquist has secured over $1 million in funding for grants and contracts. Dr. Bloomquist has served as Project Director or Co-Project Director on three United State Department of Agriculture education grants, as well as 1 of 16 charter members of the Walt Disney World College Program National Advisory Board. Dr. Bloomquist is the recipient of numerous campus-wide, statewide and nationally-recognized teaching awards, and currently serves as Interim Department Head for the Family and Consumer Sciences and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Department at NMSU. Dr. Bloomquist earned her M.S. in Hospitality/Tourism from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and her Ph.D. in Educational Management and Development from NMSU.
