Four members of the New Mexico Hospitality Association were selected as finalists for the 2018 Deals of the Year, hosted by the Albuquerque Business First. The winners for all award categories will be revealed at the Deals of the Year Gala, which will be hosted December 7 at the Hyatt Regency.
Albuquerque International Sunport - Economic Development
The more accessible flights are, the easier it is for business travel. In the past year, the Sunport added new routes as Frontier Airlines commenced flights to Denver, Orlando, and Austin. Southwest Airlines also added a route to San Jose, and Delta Airlines added a flight to Los Angeles.
Sandia Resort & Casino - Hospitality
Sandia Resort & Casino, a top tourist destination, debuted its renovated ampitheater in July. The venue spent nearly $16 million to revamp its seating, along with consession stands, restrooms and entrances, which were designed to enhance the amphitheater's intimate atmosphere.
Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel - Hospitality
Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel doubled down on its expansion, spending $85 million on a new room block and steakhouse. The expansion officially opened in July, and the casino hired an estimated 230 staff members to accomodate the expansion.
Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm - Hospitality
Los Poblanos, a popular destination for both tourists and New Mexico residents, pumped $10 million into renovations of its guest rooms and dairy building. The renovations were aimed at providing "authenticity and connection to community."
