What was your first job in the hospitality/tourism industry?
Business Travel Manager- Sheraton Airport, Albuquerque

Who has helped/mentored you throughout your career?
In my diverse career path, I have had many who mentored me and help grow my leadership skills. But it all began with my father, who instilled in me to have excellent work ethic and perseverance. He always told me “Robin, the results of anything you do, is directly impacted by the work put in- at times you may fail- but don’t ever give up”.

What has been the highlight of your career?
There are a couple. Having the opportunity to be a part of the original staff to sell and open a brand new- new build luxury boutique hotel- Hotel Chaco in Albuquerque. This has been challenging and rewarding all at the same time! I love my Chaco Peeps! And being nominated for this award- I am truly humbled. I never thought in a million years that my name would be part of this list. Thank you to those who felt compelled to nominate me.

Red or Green?
Both please!!! I need Both! I always feel guilty if I order one and not the other.

What is one suggestion or piece of advice you would share with young people entering the hospitality/tourism business?
That’s tough- so I’m giving my top 3.

Love what you do.

Be a memory maker for the client/guests (hopefully all good ones).

Practice subservience. Always be ready to assist or lend support.

What is your favorite New Mexico travel experience?
All of New Mexico is my favorite! Taos, NM in the winter- especially during an amazing ski season!

What is your favorite quote or piece of inspiration?
Don’t always focus so much on the end result that you forget the process and the people it will take to get you there.

What does being a finalist for the Top HAT Awards mean to you?
It means a lot. All the long hours I’ve invested to cultivate business partnerships throughout the state and country; is being recognized. I am honored to represent Hotel Chaco, and the hospitality industry in New Mexico.
